Psychosocial Challenges and Educational/Occupational Aspirations of Adolescent/Young Adult Cancer Survivors
Objective
Study Objectives The objective of the research plan is to understand how psychosocial challenges from cancer treatment and resource utilization are associated with educational/occupational aspirations of AYA (adolescent and young adult) cancer survivors aged 15-25 years at time of cancer diagnosis. We are in a unique position to study the impact of psychosocial programming on psychosocial challenges in AYA cancer survivors given Penn State s partnership with the Penn State IFC/Panhellenic Dance Marathon (THON), and its sole beneficiary, Four Diamonds. Raising nearly $10 million yearly, Four Diamonds provides financial and psychosocial support to Penn State patients diagnosed with cancer before their 22nd birthday, with older patients ineligible for this service.
