Exploring Factors Associated with Understanding Among Head and Neck Surgery Patients
Objective
The purpose of this study is to analyze patient factors that may be associated with perioperative understanding among head and neck patients undergoing surgical procedures.
Specific aims: Establish the current levels of health literacy, knowledge, and satisfaction among patients undergoing head and neck surgery with Penn State Health s Otolaryngology department. Assess the relationship between health literacy, knowledge of surgery, and patient satisfaction, controlling for demographic factors. Evaluate the impact of an informed consent intervention on the knowledge and satisfaction of patients with low health literacy
